Bamboo is the Costa Rica hub of Living Artfully, a not for profit organization started by Sofiah Thom in 2008. 

Bamboo was born out of the union of Sofiah’s long term vision and dream and Brendan’s ability to manifest and build.  One year after Sofiah’s first trip to Costa Rica in December 2006, Bamboo opened for Sofiah’s first retreat, Birthing Bamboo.  Bamboo is a testament and inspiration for living our dreams, taking our visions through into action and the power of intention guided by grace. 

The symbol used for our logo is an ancient chinese character meaning ‘Mai’, translating into one of the many descriptions of dance.  This one meaning exactly:  ‘Beautiful movements out of the mysterious void.’  I found it, 10 years ago in Boulder, painted by a chinese woman.

Bamboo has been a powerful symbol for me for the last 10 years, Representing:

Stength, flexibility, ability to withstand adversity, longetiviy, integrity, filled with spirit and grace.

My vision is to inspire others to live more artfully, consciously, embodied, alive and expressive in their day to day living.
